Just two months left of 2023! This year is flying … so a great time to make sure you’re getting the most from your Extras cover, and the health benefits you can use as part of your RT Health membership.
At RT Health, most Extras benefits and limits refresh each new year. This means you’ll get new limits on 1 January 2024.
So, now’s a great time to book in for those check-ups and treatments to get value from your Extras. And, you’ll be fully prepped for the busy festive season!
We’ve put together a few tips to help you on your way.
Check up on your smile
Having healthy teeth, mouth and gums is important for your general health and wellbeing. It means you can eat, drink, speak, smile, socialise and feel good about yourself without pain or discomfort.
Regular dental visits help you prevent tooth decay, cavities, periodontal (gum) disease, halitosis (bad breath) and many other oral health concerns.
It’s recommended you get a check-up with your dentist every six months. Dental services can be expensive. That’s why Extras cover is so important. As an RT Health member, you’ve got access to great dental providers to help curb the costs of maintaining your smile.
RT Health members can visit HCF Dental Clinics and receive no-gap^ dental services across a range of general services (plus fixed price dental work for other services).
Check up on your eyes
Even if you aren’t experiencing any problems with your vision or eyes, it's still important to see an optometrist regularly to make sure your eyes stay healthy.
Adults should have their eyes checked at least every two years. Seniors and kids should have an eye test every year.
Eye checks are especially important if you work at a laptop/computer and have a lot of screen time.
RT Health has teamed with a range of optical providers across the country to provide members with discounts on glasses frames, lenses and contact lenses (depending on your policy), so you can keep your eyes in tip top shape. Take a look here to see what’s on offer at HCF Eyecare centres.
Muscles and joints
If you’re experiencing joint or muscle pain, or recovering from an injury, you can use your Extras cover to see a physiotherapist or chiropractor.
You may also use your Extras benefits for remedial and Swedish massage (if it’s included in your cover). This can help release tension and reduce recovery time.
And even if you’re not currently experiencing any discomfort or reduced mobility, massage has a range of health benefits - from reducing stress and anxiety to improving posture (especially if you work from home).
Know what you’re covered for
Make the most of your Extras cover. If you know which treatments and services you’re covered for and how much you can claim, you’re on your way to getting great value … and better health.
If you don’t have your Cover Guide handy, they’re available 24/7 on our website. Understanding your cover will help you avoid unexpected costs and you might discover more benefits you’d like to use to stay fit, healthy and active.
Know when your limits reset
Most annual limits reset on 1 January.
Any unused annual limits don’t carry over into 2024, so if you need or want particular services, it’s worth planning ahead. Check how much is remaining in your limits and book in your appointments to make sure you’re staying on top of your health and getting the most from your health cover.
